What is new subdivision connections?
Subdividing land creates new lots that each need their own network connection, and the electrical reticulation that serves them must be designed, approved and installed to the distributor’s standards before titles can be registered and homes built. Castellano Electrical works with developers, surveyors and civil contractors to coordinate the electrical connection package for new subdivisions across Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy areas.
A subdivision connection is more involved than a single new connection. It typically requires a network design (often via the distributor’s Connection and Asset Relocation process), underground reticulation through the estate, pillars and pits at each lot boundary, and staged energisation as lots are released. We manage the ASP-side design and construction, coordinate with the distributor’s technical requirements, and align the electrical works with the civil program so power infrastructure is ready when each stage completes.
Getting the electrical strategy right early protects your program and your budget. We advise on the most efficient reticulation layout, the lead times for distributor approvals, and how to stage the connections to match your sales and construction releases. From a two-lot battle-axe subdivision to a multi-stage land release, we provide the Level 2 ASP design, application management and connection delivery that brings each lot to a compliant, energised connection point.
Why only a Level 2 ASP can do this work
New Subdivision Connections is work on the network side of your electricity supply — the connection between the distributor's network and your meter. A standard electrician is licensed for the wiring inside your property, but only a Level 2 Authorised Service Provider (ASP) is authorised to connect, disconnect or alter that supply. If this work is done by a non-ASP, the distributor will not energise it and it has to be redone.
Castellano Electrical holds Level 2 ASP authorisation for both Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy, so we can carry out new subdivision connections anywhere in Greater Sydney and manage the distributor process for you. You can read more about electrical licensing in NSW via NSW Fair Trading.
The process, step by step
- Concept & feasibility. We review the subdivision plan and advise on reticulation strategy and distributor lead times.
- Design & application. We coordinate the network connection design and lodge the application with the distributor.
- Civil coordination. We align the electrical works with your civil program and trenching.
- Install reticulation. We install the underground reticulation, pillars and pits to each lot.
- Energise lots. We energise lots in stages and certify each connection.
Key benefits
- Network connection design coordinated with the distributor
- Underground reticulation, pillars and pits across the estate
- Staged energisation matched to your release program
- Lead-time and approval management to protect your schedule
- Suitable for small battle-axe splits to multi-stage releases
Distributor coverage & service areas
We provide new subdivision connections across both Sydney network areas. Your property's distributor determines the application process and standards, and we are authorised for both:
- Ausgrid: Ausgrid operates the electricity network across the Sydney CBD, eastern suburbs, inner west, lower and upper north shore, northern beaches, the Central Coast and the Hunter.
- Endeavour Energy: Endeavour Energy operates the network across Greater Western Sydney, the South West, the Blue Mountains, the Southern Highlands and the Illawarra.
Not sure which network covers you? Our Ausgrid vs Endeavour Energy service areas guide breaks it down suburb by suburb, or see all the Sydney areas we cover.
What does it cost?
Subdivision connection cost is project-specific (lot count, reticulation length, distributor requirements). Provided as a scoped package quote.
