What is commercial & industrial new connections?
Commercial and industrial premises draw far more power than a home, and their network connections reflect that: larger three-phase supplies, current-transformer (CT) metering for high loads, and sometimes a dedicated distribution substation. Castellano Electrical delivers Level 2 ASP new connections for warehouses, factories, retail and commercial fit-outs and industrial facilities across Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy areas, including the demanding industrial estates of Western Sydney.
A commercial connection starts with confirming the available supply at the site and the load the business requires, then designing the connection to suit — including whether CT metering or a substation is needed. We lodge the connection application with the distributor, install the consumer mains and connection assets to the required standard, and coordinate the CT metering installation. For tenancy fit-outs we handle the metering and supply changes that the new use requires.
Downtime is expensive for a commercial operator, so we plan the connection around your occupancy and operating requirements and keep the distributor process moving to avoid delays to opening or production. Whether it’s a new industrial unit in Wetherill Park, a retail tenancy in Parramatta or a warehouse in Smithfield, we provide the high-capacity connection, metering and certification that gets the premises energised and operating.
Why only a Level 2 ASP can do this work
Commercial & Industrial New Connections is work on the network side of your electricity supply — the connection between the distributor's network and your meter. A standard electrician is licensed for the wiring inside your property, but only a Level 2 Authorised Service Provider (ASP) is authorised to connect, disconnect or alter that supply. If this work is done by a non-ASP, the distributor will not energise it and it has to be redone.
Castellano Electrical holds Level 2 ASP authorisation for both Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy, so we can carry out commercial & industrial new connections anywhere in Greater Sydney and manage the distributor process for you. You can read more about electrical licensing in NSW via NSW Fair Trading.
The process, step by step
- Confirm supply & load. We confirm available supply at the site and the load the business requires.
- Design the connection. We design the connection, including CT metering or substation requirements.
- Lodge application. We lodge the connection application with the distributor.
- Install & meter. We install the connection assets and coordinate CT metering.
- Energise & certify. We energise the premises and provide certification.
Key benefits
- High-capacity three-phase commercial and industrial connections
- CT metering and substation requirements managed
- Consumer mains and connection assets to standard
- Connection planned around your occupancy timeline
- Suited to Western Sydney industrial estates and CBD tenancies
Distributor coverage & service areas
We provide commercial & industrial new connections across both Sydney network areas. Your property's distributor determines the application process and standards, and we are authorised for both:
- Ausgrid: Ausgrid operates the electricity network across the Sydney CBD, eastern suburbs, inner west, lower and upper north shore, northern beaches, the Central Coast and the Hunter.
- Endeavour Energy: Endeavour Energy operates the network across Greater Western Sydney, the South West, the Blue Mountains, the Southern Highlands and the Illawarra.
Not sure which network covers you? Our Ausgrid vs Endeavour Energy service areas guide breaks it down suburb by suburb, or see all the Sydney areas we cover.
What does it cost?
Commercial connection cost depends on supply size, metering type and substation needs. Provided as a scoped package quote.
